What Is Photon? The Solana Trading Terminal Explained (2026)

Table of Contents

Photon is a browser-based trading terminal for Solana, run by Tiny Astro at photon-sol.tinyastro.io. It exists for one job: finding newly launched SPL tokens fast and buying or selling them in a single click. Most of what flows through it is Pump.fun logo - Solana token launchpad Pump.fun memecoin volume, and the interface is built around that reality rather than around long-term investing.

It launched in January 2024. By the end of that year it was one of the busiest venues on Solana logo - the chain Photon trades on Solana by fee revenue, and it has collected more than $440 million in lifetime fees. It is also, in 2026, a shadow of what it was. Both of those things are true, and this page covers both.

First, the name problem

Searching for "Photon" pulls in at least eight unrelated products. The Photon Engine multiplayer SDK from Exit Games (PUN, PUN2, Fusion) dominates the generic results. Photon Health is a Brooklyn e-prescribing startup. PhotonSwap is a DEX on Cronos, PHO is the fee token of the AtomOne Cosmos fork, and there are several more PHOTON-ticker tokens with no connection to any of them. None of these is the Solana terminal, and there is no Photon blockchain. If a page is talking about an L1, an SDK, or a token contract, it is not talking about this Photon.

What Photon actually does

Open the app and you get a live view of what is launching on Solana right now, plus a buy button attached to every row. That is the whole pitch. You are not connecting a wallet to a DEX front end and approving each swap. Photon generates a Solana wallet for your account when you sign up and fund it, and from then on trades fire from inside the terminal.

The speed comes from removing the wallet-signature round trip. On a memecoin launch where the entry window is measured in seconds, a browser extension popup is a real cost. Photon removes it and charges a flat 1% fee for the privilege.

Photon's Solana terminal: the chart on the left, token stats in the middle column, and a Buy panel with fixed SOL amounts on the right. The whole top-level nav is New Pairs, Holdings and Leaderboard.

That is the entire product, and the nav is worth a second look because of what is missing from it. New Pairs, Holdings, Leaderboard. There is no Discover tab, no copy-trading tab, and no portfolio analytics tab, whatever a review page may have told you.

Photon sells one thing: the shortest possible path between spotting a token and holding it. Every filter, preset, and routing option in the product exists to shave time off that path.

The product makes more sense with the screen in front of you. Open Photon, click through Memescope, then come back to the rest of this page. Our getting started guides walk through signup and the one-time key reveal.

The feature set, as documented

Everything below appears in Photon's own GitBook. Nothing is inferred from marketing copy or third-party reviews.

FeatureWhat it does
MemescopeThe flagship screen. A customizable dashboard of Pump.fun and Moonshot tokens with filters for top-10-holder percentage, socials, bonding-curve progress, holder count, developer holding percentage, liquidity, volume, market cap, and buy/sell activity. Hover pauses the feed; a quick-buy button sits on each card.
Live Pairs FeedThe raw stream of new pairs as they appear.
Trending PageRanked view of what is moving.
Token / Pairs pagePer-token chart and trade panel.
My HoldingsYour balances and current positions.
Limit OrdersBuy the dip by percentage drop, exact market cap, or a target line drawn on the chart. Stop loss and take profit. Expiries of 24, 48, or 72 hours. Filling one side at 100% allocation auto-cancels its pair.
DCA OrdersRecurring buys or sells by SOL amount or percentage, with an interval, a total order count, a market-cap min/max band, and the same 24/48/72-hour expiry.
Smart-MEV ProtectionTwo modes. Fast Mode routes bribes under 0.001 SOL directly to Jito and larger ones through Bloxroute. Secure Mode applies the same logic at a 0.002 SOL threshold. Default Speed and Auto Speed settings adjust priority fee and bribe from recent successful transactions.
S1 / S2 / S3 presetsThree saved trading profiles, each holding its own MEV protection setting, priority fee, bribe, and slippage. Switch profiles instead of retyping settings mid-trade.
Auto-Buy / Auto-SellTriggers tied to market-cap percentage change, configured per preset.
Multi-WalletUp to five active wallets per account, with archive and unarchive, split deposits across wallets, per-wallet quick buy and sell, and a Moonpay on-ramp.

The trading guides cover the ones with real depth, particularly the presets and the MEV routing settings, which are where most new users misconfigure themselves into failed transactions.

Mobile deserves its own line. Photon has no native app. The documented route is exporting your Photon private key and importing it into Phantom logo - Solana wallet used to import an exported Photon key Phantom, then using Photon inside Phantom's in-app browser. It works, but it is a workaround rather than a product, and it means your key leaves the Photon interface.

What Photon is not

Much of the published Photon content online describes features the product does not have. Here are the ones that keep coming back.

Commonly claimedReality
Telegram botDoes not exist. Photon is web-only, and nothing in the entire docs set mentions Telegram.
A "Discover" pageNo such page in either the Solana or Ethereum documentation.
A named "Sniper" featureNo page by that name. Memescope plus limit and DCA orders support fast entry, but no migration-sniping mechanic is documented.
Wallet trackingNot documented. Multi-Wallet manages your own five wallets, not other people's.
PnL trackerNot documented as a named feature. My Holdings shows balances.
Copy tradingNot documented.
"Degen / Normal / Custom" presetsThe presets are named S1, S2, and S3. The degen naming appears nowhere in the docs.

If a review lists copy trading and a Telegram bot under Photon's features, it was written from a template rather than from the product.

Custody: one chance to save your key

Photon is non-custodial. It generates a Solana wallet for your account and reveals the private key once, behind a reveal slider at signup. Save it then or you have no second chance. Photon's Terms of Use say it plainly: the company "has no way of granting you access to the site if you lose access to, or control of, your Wallet." The key is exportable, and importing it into Phantom is the documented way to move funds out. Our security section covers the export flow and how to store the key properly.

The fee, and the fees that are not Photon's

1% on every buy and 1% on every sell, taken from the SOL amount. Photon's GitBook states it verbatim: "1% of the initial token used for every buy and sell transaction." The worked example in the docs is a 5 SOL buy incurring a 0.05 SOL fee. Wallet-to-wallet transfers are not taxed.

There are no volume tiers. There is no published referral discount. There is no documented fee history, which means the 1% has been the number for as long as the docs have existed.

One distinction gets blurred constantly in competitor comparisons: Solana priority fees and Jito bribes are not Photon fees. You set them yourself in Settings, and they go to validators, not to Tiny Astro. When someone tells you Photon "costs 2 to 3% per trade," they are usually rolling your own priority fee settings into Photon's take. The fees cluster breaks the full stack down, including the Pump.fun and PumpSwap protocol fees that layer underneath every fresh-launch trade.

The honest problem with a flat 1% is round-trip math. Buy and sell and you have paid 2% before the token has moved at all. Do that four times in a day and the fee bill starts deciding your results for you.

See the terminal before you judge it

Photon's Memescope, limit orders, and S1/S2/S3 presets are still among the cleanest implementations in the category. Signing up costs nothing and the referral link changes neither your fee nor ours, because Photon publishes no referral discount to pass on.

Where Photon actually stands in 2026

This is the part most Photon pages skip, so here it is with the source attached. All figures below come from DefiLlama logo - source for protocol fee and volume data DefiLlama's fee adapter for Photon, pulled on August 6, 2026.

Photon has collected $440.8 million in lifetime fees. Its first month, January 2024, brought in $551,003. It ramped through 2024 and peaked in January 2025 at $84.6 million in a single month. From there it declined steadily, month after month, to roughly $0.5 million a month in mid-2026. That is a drawdown of about 99.4% from peak.

Every month since launch is in that chart, which is worth a moment of your time. The shape is not a gentle taper. Photon spent 2024 climbing, spiked once, and then gave the whole thing back inside eighteen months. Selected months, if you want the exact figures:

MonthGross fees
January 2024 (launch)$551,003
November 2024$63.7M
January 2025 (peak)$84.6M
June 2025$6.8M
December 2025$1.4M
June 2026$467,213
July 2026$551,656

Against its peers, Photon is now seventh by 30-day gross fees at about 1.26% share. Axiom logo - Solana trading terminal and Photon competitor Axiom holds 55.3% and GMGN logo - Solana trading terminal and Photon competitor GMGN holds 23.0%. Dexscreener, Jupiter, and Trojan logo - Telegram-native Solana trading bot Trojan are all ahead of Photon as well.

Platform30-day feesShareFee
Axiom$22.35M55.3%1%, tiered down to 0.75% (official docs)
GMGN$9.31M23.0%1%, 0.70-0.90% with referral (official docs)
Dexscreener$4.37M10.8%Not a trading fee
Jupiter$2.35M5.8%0-10 bps, 50 bps on tokens under 24h (official docs)
Trojan$0.97M2.4%~1% (not in official docs)
Photon$0.51M1.26%1% flat (official docs)

The reason is not mysterious. Axiom publishes a tier schedule that walks the fee down to 0.75% and adds SOL cashback on top. GMGN publishes a referral discount that reaches 0.70%. Photon publishes a flat 1% and nothing else. Traders who round-trip positions dozens of times a week ran that arithmetic and moved. Axiom's rise is documented in detail in our Photon vs Axiom comparison and at our sister site axiompedia.com.

Photon is not broken and it is not abandoned. It processes trades, the features work, and it has $440 million of lifetime fees behind it. What it lost is the default-choice position, and it lost that on price rather than on product quality.

Note one trap if you go looking at DefiLlama yourself. Photon's volume module only began tracking in May 2026, so its "all-time volume" figure covers about three months. It is not a lifetime number and should never be compared against the fee series, which runs back to January 2024. The comparison cluster goes deeper on how Photon stacks up against each specific alternative.

Who Photon is for

It fits you if you trade Solana memecoins from a desktop browser and want discovery and execution in the same window without a wallet popup on every entry. The Memescope filters are genuinely good. The limit and DCA order builders are more complete than most of the category, and the multi-wallet setup with split deposits is well thought out.

It does not fit you if you round-trip often enough that 2% per cycle decides your outcome. In that case Axiom's or GMGN's discounted tiers are simply cheaper, and no amount of interface polish closes that gap. It also does not fit you if you want Telegram-native trading, copy trading, or wallet tracking, none of which Photon has. And for a large one-off swap rather than launch hunting, Jupiter logo - Solana DEX aggregator Jupiter charges basis points where Photon charges a full percent.

No token, no airdrop

Tiny Astro has issued no token, and there is no confirmed Photon airdrop. The only official points mechanic in the documentation is the Photon Points Leaderboard on the Ethereum side, where referring someone who then trades earns you points, and the top 100 weekly point holders receive a share of a weekly jackpot. Whether an equivalent runs on the Solana side is not documented.

Any 'Photon token' contract is a scam

Multiple unrelated projects use the PHOTON and PHO tickers, which makes this an easy scam to run. Nothing on Photon's site or in its documentation announces a token. Treat every contract address presented as the official Photon token as hostile, without exception.

Photon also publishes no referral commission rate anywhere. The photon-sol.tinyastro.io/@handle link format is real, and plenty of handles are live, but the payout percentage is not documented by Photon. The "30% forever" figure circulating online traces to affiliate blogs, not to Photon. Our referral page states what is documented and nothing beyond it.

Security and the fake-Photon problem

There is no record of Photon itself being hacked or exploited. Searches for a Tiny Astro breach return nothing, and the August 2022 Solana wallet drain that turns up in those searches was a Slope seed-phrase leak that predates Photon entirely.

The real documented threat is impersonation. Security vendor PCRisk has published a removal guide for a fake-Photon site at speedtrade[.]icu that clones the real interface. Connecting a wallet there triggers a silent drainer. PCRisk's writeup, last updated December 2025, explicitly names the tinyastro.io property as the legitimate platform.

Every canonical Photon domain sits under tinyastro.io:

DomainChain
photon-sol.tinyastro.ioSolana (primary)
photon-bnb.tinyastro.ioBNB Chain
photon-base.tinyastro.ioBase
photon.tinyastro.ioGeneric entry point

The Ethereum deployment now returns a permanent redirect, though its documentation section survives as legacy. Sources disagree on Photon's exact current chain coverage: some 2026 reviews describe it as Solana-only, while the live BNB and Base subdomains say otherwise. Treat the Solana terminal as the product and everything else as secondary.

A common phishing trick swaps a dot for a hyphen or the reverse, so photon-sol versus photon.sol is worth a second look before you type a key anywhere. If a domain is not under tinyastro.io, it is not Photon. The troubleshooting section covers what to do if you suspect you interacted with a clone.

Start with the real domain

Photon runs at photon-sol.tinyastro.io and nowhere else. Bookmark it from a link you trust rather than a search result, save your private key at the one moment it is shown, and read the fee math before your first trade.

The short version

Photon is a working, non-custodial, web-only Solana trading terminal with a strong discovery screen and a flat 1% fee. It launched in January 2024, dominated Solana memecoin flow through that year, peaked in January 2025, and has since lost almost all of its share to cheaper competitors. It is still a reasonable tool for occasional launch trading and a poor one for high-frequency flipping.

That verdict comes from Photon's own documentation for the product and fee facts, and from DefiLlama for everything about its market position. If you want the underlying numbers rather than the summary, our guides carry the sources inline, and the ecosystem section covers the points program, the token question, and the disambiguation mess in more detail.

Frequently Asked Questions

Photon is a browser-based Solana trading terminal operated by Tiny Astro at photon-sol.tinyastro.io. It gives traders a fast way to find newly launched SPL tokens and buy or sell them in one click, without connecting an external wallet to a DEX front end. It launched in January 2024 and is not related to the Photon Engine game SDK, Photon Health, or any PHOTON-ticker token.

A flat 1% on every buy and every sell, taken from the SOL amount, confirmed in Photon's own GitBook documentation. There are no published volume tiers and no published referral discount. Solana priority fees and Jito bribes are set by you in Settings and are not Photon platform fees.

No. Photon is a web application only. Nothing in Photon's documentation describes a Telegram bot, and there is no native iOS or Android app either. The documented mobile route is exporting your Photon private key into the Phantom wallet's in-app browser.

No. Tiny Astro has issued no token and has confirmed no airdrop. Several unrelated projects use the PHOTON ticker, so any contract address presented as the official Photon token is a scam. A Photon Points leaderboard with a weekly jackpot is documented on the Ethereum side of the product.

It still works and it is still operating, but it is no longer the default choice. DefiLlama data pulled in August 2026 shows Photon collected about $0.5M in monthly fees against a January 2025 peak of $84.6M, placing it seventh in its cohort at roughly 1.26% share. The flat 1% fee with no referral discount is the main reason traders left.
